Former Mississippi Star and Hattiesburg High School Alumnus, Jermaine Van Buren was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 2nd round of the 1998 Major League Draft and signed as a Free Agent with the Chicago Cubs in December, 2003

2004- Was named to the Southern League all-star team as he recorded 21 saves for the Diamond Jaxx. Picked up a save for Iowa after a September 1 promotion. Recorded two saves in the PCL semifinals series against Oklahoma. In 1998 Jermaine was named to the Arizona League All-Star team in his first professional season.
